Hello, July! We've been feeling the summer sizzle here in the Mitten, along with most states near us. One of our favorite Star Stable events, Summer Daze, has been going strong for the last 5 weeks! Many of our old favorites activities returned.
The Rainbow Race

The magically-sprouting wings will never get old

This was many of the horses' first time in the sky. Kitekey seemed especially pumped.
We got to play the "which item did Bruce eat?" activity every day. I don't recall him ever eating the bag or starfish, but he ate (and then upchucked) all the other times at least once.
Indeed. Bruce is the cutest shark ever!
it's a miracle the radio still worked after this!
Aideen Reborn Race, where we get to gallop on water and have brief encounters with Bruce (complete with Jaws-esque music snippets) was as fun as we remembered.
Better run fast, guys!
Catching sample moths and butterflies for Mariposa at various locations
Accidentally riding out of the activity area did not cause an automatic fail this year, thank goodness, and the moths and butterflies also seemed easier to find.
Now on to the new fun stuff!Lazy river floating
This was a daily activity the entire event long. Here is Clara in my favorite raft, the donut
the object: click on the rubber duckies as you float by
Clara never once wore clothing appropriate for this XD
Getting soaked didn't faze her in the slightest

yay for dancing crabs!
Usually, we'd have Clara "stand up" and exit the activity as soon as we collected enough ducks, but on the rare day (like the 4th of July) when we had extra time, we'd let her float all the way to the end.
there were a few entertaining bugs, like this...
...this. Our doggie must be part fish!
...and this. All horses wait for their riders in the exact same spot at the end, leading to interesting overlaps. We thought it especially amusing when this happened with Lady and a doppleganger.
The Fantastic Plastic Race: a nighttime beach race with inflatables galore:we love it, Star Stable!
A new iteration of the Championship Ranks:

This was enjoyable but not our favorite aspect - so much work to earn the final iterations of the ribbons - but it is fun looking at all the other horses and riders before each race.
All of this activity meant Starboard sped through her final experience levels. Here she is doing her last level up sparkle:
She sure rocks purple and black!
We're bummed that SSO is continuing the trend of just fancying up the same base ribbon with each new tier, rather than giving us totally different ribbons within the same theme. Oh well, we know there are many players out there who do not share our feelings and prefer the new trend.
Frosty proudly wearing the final ribbon before an evening championship.
Decorating the dock:
as much as we enjoyed doing this, it took a while to decorate everything, so we were grateful that picking a single decoration counted as "activity complete."
I especially liked using the disco-themed elements. XD
A special event wouldn't be complete without some new horses:This event's beauties: Pelagos (Black Forest Horse base) and Perla (Criollo base)
magical horses from past years joined the party as well, and we even saw a bear once.
This has to have been a glitch, right?
My personal favorite new thing: a race where Clara gets to ride Bruce the shark!
It is awesome, Ben.
the jumps consist of floating barrels, boxes, and inflatables
Bruce gets some serious air when he jumps!
:D
We had no trouble earning enough tokens for all the new token items below, even with the 4 days off while the humans were gone and we took a hiatus from the game.
Thumbs up from us on the new tack, but the clothing will be gathering virtual dust in Clara's virtual wardrobe. We know this is a game and doesn't have to be realistic, but we have a hard time imagining Clara enjoying a horseback ride in shorts and improper footwear. XD
Finally, for the record, here is a little recap of the event quest line this year. Ben and Shibby Tim got into a heated argument over which one of them was Bruce the shark's best buddy. James saw an opportunity to cash in on this by hosting and having Clara film The Shark-elor, a multi-challenge competition for the title of Bruce's Best Buddy.
Bruce talks only in emojis. :P
four challenges, four more reality shows to spoof
James sure know hows to spin things
:)
Oh, the dialog. XD
Challenge 1: beach vibes
A crab is hidden under one of the baskets, the baskets get shuffled, and the guys had to pick the correct basket with the crab.
Ben aced this one, and Shibby Tim failed.
Challenge 2: cooking ability.
The contestants had to replicate Bruce's favorite smoothie
This time, Shibby Tim won hands down, as Ben's smoothie ended up on the floor.
For Challenge 3: style, Bruce participated as a judge in person from a kiddie pool in the disco. XD
Both contestants strutted their stuff on the disco dance floor, but Ben edged out Shibby Tim for the win.
Challenge 4: personality
The contestants answered questions such as this one from behind the screens, to conceal who was who.
contestant 1's answer
contestant 2's answer
The winner of this one: Shibby Tim!
what a conundrum
yeah right, Clara's not choosing sides!
:)
:)
Aw! <3
Well, Clara has been feeding him smoothie scraps and riding him every day...
Neither Ben nor Shibby Tim seemed to be upset, but how would James take it?
Whew, he rolled with it too.
Per James, it concluded with an adorable outro of Clara and Bruce having fun together.
Ugh, Iris, of all the timing.
Well done, SSO! Such a cute ending.
The last thing to discuss: the latest bazaar, of course! Fun twist: they are on display on the former pony barge anchored in the Fort Pinta harbor.
On discount we have the Chincoteague Pony (350 star coins), the Mustang (495 star coins), the Morgan (425 star coins), and the Jorvik Mountain Horse (630 star coins)
We're all excited to finally have reason to take home a Jorvik Mountain Horse, but nobody is more thrilled than Bethany. It's just a matter of choosing a color variation and name now, which is proving to be quite difficult. We'll reveal him or her in our next post!
I'll leave you with these screenshots of Clara enjoying the final week of Summer Daze fun.
boogying with the crabs
pausing to appreciate the rainbow decorations in Fort Pinta
random firework launches in Fort Pinta don't bother the virtual horses a bit, thank goodness
Riverrock and Clara posing in their 4th of July finery
Thanks, SSO! Summer Daze has been a blast!
